What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Summer Programs - Summer Music Camp: Assistant Director position at Somerville Public Schools?
Program Goals: The Somerville Summer Music Camp provides a week of music programming during the summer for string, woodwind and brass players in the Somerville Public Schools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree preferred
- Evidence of five years of successful teaching/summer camp experience
- Demonstrated experience as an administrator or supervisor
Responsibilities:
- Supervise music camp staff and all instructional activities
- Supervise the maintenance of attendance of students
- Conduct staff meetings and training in coordination with the Director for the proper functioning of the summer camp
- Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary
- Supervise the daily lunch and snack count and maintain supplies and equipment as well as proper distribution.
- Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all campers and staff
- Supervise office procedures, opening-and closing-day procedures for staff and campers.
- Assess all summer camp activities and provide recommendations for the improvement of future summer programs
- Assist Director in schedule making/planning for staff
- Must be available for Orientation/Professional Development: TBD
Terms of Employment:
- Seasonal/Yearly Employment
- Out of Regular school and/or work hours
- Student Program runs July 21nd - August 1st; Hours: 8:30 - 12:30
- Location: East Somerville Community School
- Stipend: $2500.00
- Mandatory Orientation and Professional Development Days: Week of June 26
