What are the responsibilities and job description for the 24-25 Door and Building Monitor - Evenings position at Somerville Public Schools?
Job Goal: The Somerville High School Evening Door and Building Monitor is responsible for monitoring the main entrance of the school, and for maintaining a professional and courteous relationship with the staff, children, and families in the program while also overseeing appropriate use of the building during weekday evening hours.
Qualifications:
- Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality
- Excellent attendance record
- Excellent organizational skills
- Good interpersonal, customer service and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate well with a wide range of people
- Excellent judgment and ability to make decisions when different situations arise
- Experience with building security preferred
Responsibilities:
- Screens visitors before allowing them into the building
- Communicate with appropriate SPS and City staff to get updated information on evening use of SHS
- Direct visitors to the appropriate location/venue
- Maintain SHS safety protocols such as not propping doors open, only allowing authorized persons into the building
- Answer basic questions about the building and connect people to appropriate resources
- Remove unauthorized persons from building
- Redirect people from unauthorized locations in the building
- Report any misuse of the building
- Note and report building safety or maintenance concerns
- Work with night custodian staff to make sure building is clear of all visitors at the end of the evening
- Communicates issues and concerns to person supervising building activity
Terms of Employment:
- Part Time / Temporary thru 6/17/2025
- Schedule School Year
- Up to 19 work hours per week
- Monday-Friday / 6:00pm-9:45pm
- $25.00/hour
