We are looking for an experienced and collaborative data engineer to significantly contribute to the development and execution of the Global Pricing Team's data strategy. The role involves creating and maintaining a well-organized data layer that provides the organization with access to clean and structured data sets. Additionally, the data engineer will be responsible for developing automated solutions and incorporating analytics into production applications. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of accomplishment in data engineering within an analytics-driven environment, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive strategic initiatives that support data-driven innovation in pricing.Location : The Central Pricing & Analytics Team is a global team and this role can be based out of any Sompo office location. We strive for collaboration which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long lasting careers.Our business, your impact, our opportunity : What you’ll be doing : Design, build, and maintain a robust, curated data layer that supports the development of exploratory data sets and structured data flows for pricing and analytics teams.Work with cross-functional teams to capture, process, and integrate data from the HX Renew platform into production applications, ensuring it meets quality and governance standards.Develop and implement automated data engineering solutions to support advanced analytics, reporting, and pricing insights.Partner with central data team, actuarial pricing and IT stakeholders to ensure that the curated data layer and data engineering practices align with business objectives and analytic requirements.Establish and enforce data engineering best practices, including data quality, governance, and security protocols.Drive strategic initiatives to enhance the curated data layer, supporting the seamless integration of analytical solutions through both cloud and on-premise technologies.What you’ll bring : Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.8 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on operationalizing data for analytics, building curated data layers, and integrating solutions into production.Proven experience working in pricing, insurance, or financial services is strongly preferred.Expertise in SQL, Python, and data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Databricks).Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and data integration tools.Strong understanding of data governance, security, and quality management best practices.Experience leading and mentoring teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives and foster a collaborative, innovative work environment.Salary Range : $140,000 – $190,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.At Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
