What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at Sonasoft IT Services LLC?
Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate health and development status of students.
- Interpret health and developmental assessment and medical records to parents, teachers, administrators, and other professionals directly concerned with the student.
- Design and implement individual health care plans.
- Maintain communication with parents and all involved community practitioners and agencies to promote needed treatment and secure reports of findings pertinent to educational planning.
- Develop complete health summaries of students referred for Special Education testing.
- Interpret medical nursing findings, as appropriate, to the Individualized Educational Program (IEP), Section 504, and Student Study (SST) teams and make recommendations to relevant staff.
- Consult with, conduct in-service training for, and serve as a resource person to staff and the community.
- Counsel and assist students and parents in health-related and school adjustment services.
- Teach health-related subjects under the supervision of a classroom teacher.
- Design and provide specialized health care services for students with physical and/or health-related needs and train and monitor paraprofessionals that provide specialized healthcare procedures.
- Assist in coordinating the health assistant program in district schools, including training and in-services.
- Supervise the district's Licensed Vocational Nurse(s), if any.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the California Department of Education, Orange County Department of Education, and Orange County Healthcare Agency, as appropriate, to ensure compliance with communicable disease policies and procedures.
- Support district policies and regulations.
- Participate in workshops and in-services as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to design, implement, and evaluate student health care plans.
- California School Nurse Services Credential.
- California Registered Nurse License.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support) Certificate.
- Previous nursing experience in pediatrics desirable.
