Role: Data Governance Director

In this role, you will work to understand existing enterprise data and data governance processes in order to find knowledge, quality, and/or process gaps and remediate them by participating in working groups. The mission of Data Governance is to successfully manage and maintain data resources, ensuring the integrity, reliability, availability, and compliance of organizational data and information. This position will also be responsible for collaborating with development team to assist with documentation, research, and development in MDM platform.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of Alation data governance platform
- Develop control structures within a simple environment to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels.
- Work with business partners to gather and understand functional requirements, develop complex queries, and provide reports.
- Manage and maintain artifacts such as business glossary, data catalog, and data management policies.
- Ensure controls are in place over applications to ensure the data integrity by performing data integrity gap analysis.
- Train, educate, and create awareness of data governance ensuring adoption and proper usage of tools and technologies.
- Create training and education tools as related to governance platform.
- Approach changes in a positive manner, motivate peers to work as a team, accept constructive criticism and learn from it.
- Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
- Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
- Must always be alert; pay close attention to details.
Requirement:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional work experience.
- 10 Years of Related Experience including:
- Advanced understanding of Data Governance frameworks and industry standard Data Governance and MDM platforms
- Data analysis, data profiling, data transformation, and data reconciliation techniques
- Data Quality Management: Establish data quality standards, monitor compliance with data quality guidelines, and ensure data is accurate, reliable, and consistent.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with business units, IT teams, and other stakeholders to ensure data governance processes align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Data Stewardship: Designate data stewards and coordinate their activities to maintain data governance standards across departments.
- Knowledge of data structures such as columnar, unstructured data, APIs, data virtualization, data warehousing, data visualization and analytical models
- Master Data Management
- Expertise in implementing and managing MDM tools, with a strong preference for proficiency in Profisee.
- high level proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL).
