Position Overview

The Employment Specialist - Pre-ETS Student Services Program is responsible for coordinating, developing, planning, and evaluating the Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) for students with disabilities. The Employment Specialist works to promote vocational and employment-oriented goals by providing support in career exploration, work-readiness training, postsecondary education training, and self-advocacy. This role involves fostering partnerships with schools, community organizations, and employers to create opportunities that help students transition successfully from school to postsecondary education and / or employment.

Essential Job Functions

Program Coordination and Development :

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver Pre-ETS services including job exploration counseling, work-based learning experiences, counseling on post-secondary education opportunities, workplace readiness training, and self-advocacy instruction.
  • Develop and implement individual service plans tailored to each student's goals, strengths, and needs, with a focus on postsecondary education and career readiness.

Student Support and Case Management :

  • Provide one-on-one and group-based support to students with disabilities to enhance their work-readiness, postsecondary education awareness, and self-advocacy skills.
  • Postsecondary Education Training and Counseling :

  • Provide counseling and resources to students on postsecondary education opportunities, including college, vocational training, and certification programs.
  • Non-Essential Job Functions

  • Follow health and safety procedures in compliance with State and Federal requirements.
  • Support organizational growth by participating in special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
  • Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a drug and background screening.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
  • Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, human services, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • At least two years of experience working with youth with disabilities in educational, workforce development, or case management settings.
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management systems.
