The general schedule for this position after training is complete is Monday to Friday 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
*Please note that a person in this role may have to work outside of regularly scheduled hours depending on the organization's needs.
Wage: $17.50/hr. $1.00/hr. Shift Differential for Swing Shift (Sign-On Bonus Eligible Paid Lunch)
SUMMARY:
The packer inspector will work with a team on a gluing machine in our finishing department. Packer Inspectors are responsible for the final quality check of our product before it is shipped to our customers. This person will need to be willing to step in where necessary to assist the finishing team in efficient machine change overs and look ahead to prepare the machine for the next job for maximum efficiency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Please note that this list is ILLUSTRATIVE only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by an incumbent in this role. Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Check with the lead operator to determine job scheduling for machine.
- Review job tickets to determine how many cases will be needed to run the job. Set the tape machine to tape the cases.
- Cut liner boards for the bottom of the cases. Cut dividers if necessary. Fill out packer inspector checklist.
- Inspect the color/print, die cut, and glue of cartons while the machine is running; know all styles of boxes.
- Package the finished product carefully into corrugated cases, double check the count.
- Ensure the packer inspector checklist is complete and put with the job ticket; return cases to inventory and clean work area.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with company policies, practices and values
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions):
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Broad training in a related professional field that provides the knowledge, skills, education and/or work-related experience.
- Six months experience in load stripping and preparation (preferred); experience working in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
