What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plastic Injection Mold Operator position at Sonfarrel Aerospace?
SUMMARY
The Plastic Injection Mold Operator: will tend or operate plastic injection-molding machine(s) to mold, form, or cast thermoplastic and thermoset materials. Feed plastic pellets into hopper of one or multiple molding machines. Injection molding operator also remove finished product and cut-away excess material, using knife or others hand tools. Process completed part and satisfactory pack for shipment and perform other related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Following safety procedures to protect themselves and coworkers from injury.
- Good mechanical abilities related to machinery and molds
- Use of precision measuring equipment: micrometers, calipers, comparator, vision system
- Ensure consistent quality components are produced that meet customer expectations.
- Ensure proper equipment operation and preventative maintenance schedules are performed.
- Track and monitor key performance indicators and take corrective action when necessary.
- Compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all documented procedures in the Quality Management System.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Involvement in our continuous Improvement and safety initiatives
- Clean the machine and surrounding work areas to ensure the housekeeping and safety of the plant. Operate machine as assigned and assist co-workers at another workstation as needed.
- Perform any secondary process.
- Perform rework as necessary.
- Clean work area during the shift or at the end of the shift
- Follow all safety Policies and procedures.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of the company's operations.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 6 months of manufacturing experience required
- Ability to understand written and verbal communication.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Manual and finger dexterity.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
COMMUNICATION SKILL
An ability to read and write and understand basic arithmetic. Must be able to follow verbal as well as written instruction.
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to recognize machine messages, understand component defect awareness and effectively use various measuring tools as initial quality control
OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
- Must have excellent organizational skills with a commitment to meeting deadlines and expectations while ensuring overall quality of delivery
- Good manual dexterity, basic Math Skills and Quality Control skills and excellent hygiene are required
- May include light to medium lifting
Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday 5am to 3:30pm (4/10's)
