Song for Charlie (SFC) is a national, family-led nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of fentanyl in counterfeit pills and other street drugs. Our mission is to educate youth and families about the chemical-based drug landscape and encourage healthy coping strategies over self-medication in the era of fentanyl.

Position Summary :

The Director of the New Drug Talk Oregon (NDT OR) program will lead and drive statewide engagement, partnerships, and outreach initiatives. Reporting directly to the SFC President and collaborating with the SFC team and the NDT OR Advisory Council, the Director will play a pivotal role in expanding the program’s reach and impact. This position involves overseeing content creation, managing outreach strategies, and supporting media engagement in close coordination with the VP of Communications and Digital. This limited-duration role is funded through 2025, with the intention to extend contingent on future grants and funding.

Key Responsibilities :

Program Leadership :

  • Lead the Oregon NDT implementation team, overseeing internal and external resources to ensure the program's success.
  • Manage a small team of contractors supporting program outreach, content development, social media, and media partnerships.

Strategic Partnerships :

  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and allies across Oregon to expand the reach and impact of the NDT OR program.
  • Marketing, Outreach & Media :

  • Design and implement marketing strategies to boost program awareness and engagement.
  • Support partner organizations in promoting SFC’s youth-focused initiatives.
  • Represent SFC at community and school events and during media appearances as needed.
  • Content Development and Management :

  • Oversee the conceptualization, creation, and promotion of new program content in collaboration with the VP of Communications and Digital.
  • Ensure content remains current, relevant, and accessible through the program website.
  • Monitoring and Insights :

  • Stay informed on evolving drug trends, overdose data, prevention research, and harm reduction strategies in Oregon and nationally.
  • Funding and Stakeholder Management :

  • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer to secure funding and meet grant requirements.
  • Provide regular updates and progress reports to funders and stakeholders.
  • Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree required in business, marketing, operations, education, public health, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience with strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, particularly when addressing sensitive topics.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with tools such as MS Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Word / Google Docs, MS Excel / Google Sheets, SharePoint, Asana, and Slack.
  • Residency in Oregon required.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Ability to remain neutral and unbiased in all professional activities.
  • Experience in youth mental health, drug prevention, or harm reduction strategies a plus.
