Senior Accountant

A University is seeking a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant is responsible for producing accurate and timely financial reports, foundation accounting, GL accounting, grant accounting, and providing other accounting services as assigned. Major duties and responsibilities of this position include:

Responsibilities:

• Maintain records and prepare financial reports pertaining to the college's fixed assets and depreciation schedules
• Total responsibility for Foundation accounting - including monthly and annual reporting requirements, account analysis and reconciliations
• Assist with month, quarter, and year end close
• Preparation and recording of journal entries as needed in reconciling interfunds
• Requires preparing accurate and timely financial reports and reimbursement requests for grant financial activity and assists in the preparation of grant proposal budgets
• Accumulates, researches and summarizes detailed account activity as needed and ensures accurate reconciliation of all grant account data to the general ledger
• Creates, reviews, and/or directs all accounting entries (transactions and journals) related to sponsored programs and restricted funds
• Other accounting related tasks as assigned
  
  
  

Requirements:

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and macros
• Decision making and troubleshooting skills
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
• Bachelors degree in accounting
  
  
  

Preferred Skills:

• CPA or MBA a plus
• Experience with PeopleSoft's General Ledger or similar ERP system, preferred
• Industry experience out of higher ed. or nonprofit preferred
  
  
  

Compensation: $35-$40/ Hour

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
