We are currently seeking full-time High School Teaching Assistants to help our students achieve academic success while working alongside dedicated educators and clinicians. At the O-School, you'll play an essential role in supporting students with mental health challenges and those on the autism spectrum.

Position Details
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:15 am - 4:30 pm
- Summer schedule: Shortened academic day with time off in July and August
- Location: Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School, Chicago, IL
Responsibilities
As a High School Teaching Assistant, you'll provide direct support to students in the classroom, working alongside teachers and other staff members to create a positive, inclusive learning environment. Your role will include assisting with:
- Academic instruction and classroom management
- Supporting students with emotional disabilities and/or autism
- Providing individualized academic support and promoting social-emotional growth
- Implementing strategies that combine strong curriculum and clinical insight to support each student's unique needs
What We're Looking For
To be considered, we're looking for candidates who have:
- A Bachelor's degree (preferably in counseling or education)
- Illinois State Certification, Type 39 (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
- Background in elementary or secondary education (preferred)
- Experience working with students with emotional disabilities or autism (preferred)
- Two years of experience working with emotionally disturbed students in a classroom or counseling setting (preferred)
- A commitment to a strengths-based approach and empowerment of families
- Flexibility, innovation, and a passion for working in a high-demand environment
