The Waterford at Fitchburg, a premier retirement community, is seeking an energetic, upbeat, caring JOYful Living Director who is passionate about enriching the lives of older adults! Bring your creativity, patience, and willingness to work in team environment!
Joyful Living is our person-centric approach to well-being and life enrichment, which emphasizes well-rounded programming and services that support the seven dimensions of wellness: physical, emotional, social, intellectual, vocational, spiritual and environmental. Our goal is to provide residents with a variety of opportunities to achieve their desired potential.
In this role, you will:
- Complete resident social history and interest assessments. Get to know your resident's personalities, personal histories, cultural backgrounds, and preferences to create the right environment for them to make personally meaningful social connections.
- Responsible for creating and posting monthly events calendar that encompass:
- Opportunities for residents to use their individual strengths, talents, skills and experiences to contribute to their community or society
- Opportunities to demonstrate mastery, learn new skills, help others and develop new interests and hobbies
- Occasions for residents to interact with people of different ages for purposeful, mutually beneficial activities and encourage participants to share skills, knowledge and experiences
- Lectures or classes on site, facilitate resident study groups on different topics including activities to learn about different countries and cultures
- A variety of ways for residents to engage in physical activity every day, including formal and instructor-led fitness classes, games, and movement club.
- Responsible for monthly creation and distribution of community newsletter featuring resident photos and special events including birthdays and anniversaries
- Implement and oversee volunteer program
- Facilitate resident council meetings; compile meeting minutes for distribution
- Responsible for the successful implementation and execution of Tree of Dreams program, with at least one resident dream fulfilled per quarter
- Responsible for ongoing updates of community Wall of Honor for new military veteran residents
