Network Architect (IP Telephony)

Position Summary :

Functions in a lead network architecture role by contributing technical expertise, tactical leadership, design validation for complex IP system and IP Telephony designs and supporting Sales, Product, Engineering and Operations team initiatives to deliver Internet Services solutions.

Essential Functions :

• Collaborates with cross-functional leadership team to formulate and advance Internet Services architectural strategy and direction using current and emerging technologies.
• Functions in a leadership role by contributing direction and technical expertise to support the work of Internet Service stakeholder teams (Associate Network Architects, Network Engineering, Technical Assistance Center, Solution Designers).
• Performs design, development, documentation, analysis and validation for complex projects on both new and existing systems based on customer requirements, company business objectives, and design specifications.
• Functions in a thought contributor role while attending customer and partner events.
• Contributes to NetArch efforts to provide documents & training materials for knowledge transfer & equipping of internal and external disciplines when launching new products.
• Communicates with Installations, Field Service and TAC during initial phases for new product testing. Leads alpha / initial site configuration and turn up steps to validate procedures and success criteria. Contributes to efforts to incorporate configuration or process changes identified during initial field testing.
• Participate in engagements with technology vendors on product evaluations, technical issues, and potential system solutions. Works to develop and maintain technical vendor relations.
• Perform work required to assess effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; contribute to the development and implementation of strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
• Tests and validates new hardware for possible use in deployed applications.
• Engages with internal and external customers for briefings, issues escalations, and complex solution development.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of network equipment including but not limited to : hubs, switches, routers, wireless networking components, firewall security systems, data cabling, cross-connects, RF cabling, and network managed software.
• Contribute to and lead software integration efforts with various network equipment vendors through testing and writing automation code with guidance from the Senior Network Architect.
• Reviews completed work for technical accuracy, conformity with established precedents, policies, and attainment of objectives with supervisor and / or other engineers as appropriate.
• Follows the latest network technologies including wireless, internet and cloud.
• Other duties as assigned commensurate with the role.

Know How :

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Voice; Avaya Certified Implementation Specialist (ACIS); CompTIA VoIP Certification; Mitel Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Voice; Alcatel-Lucent IP Telephony and Applications Certifications; Juniper Networks JNCIS-VoIP Certification).

Anticipated. Salary Range : $80,000 - $115,000
