Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities
- Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data to assess design factors, including size, shape, and part arrangement.
- Collaborate with engineering staff to provide technical information on design, manufacturing techniques, material properties, and process limitations that impact manufacturing planning.
- Assist in selecting appropriate materials, heat treatments, coatings, tolerances, and dimensioning requirements for product design and manufacturing processes.
- Apply fundamental knowledge of Quality Assurance processes, including the use of inspection equipment and interpretation of data and reports.
- Prepare product design layouts and detailed CAD drawings, ensuring adherence to blueprint standards and proper presentation, layering, and naming conventions.
- Support Product Testing in developing and testing prototype product components or assemblies.
- Collaborate with research and engineering teams to implement design modifications as required.
- Adjust product designs to address manufacturing challenges, improve efficiency, or implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
- High school diploma or GED, with ongoing studies in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and PLM/PDM systems is preferred.
