Primary Purpose of Position
The Floral and Plant Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the maintenance, care, and seasonal decor of all live and artificial plants and flowers at the Sonnenalp Hotel and Golf Club. This role will also supervise and coordinate a team responsible for plant maintenance in public spaces, guestrooms, and outdoor areas. The Supervisor will ensure that all floral arrangements, indoor plants, and seasonal decorations meet the highest standards for guest experience and aesthetic appeal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise the maintenance and care of live plants, flowers, and greenery throughout the Sonnenalp Hotel and Golf Club.
- Lead and coordinate the plant changeover, ensuring timely removal and replacement of plants according to schedule.
- Oversee the seasonal change of decor in all public spaces, restaurants, lobbies, hotel hallways, including large lobby displays.
- Manage the removal and replacement of seasonal pine arrangements and other decor as needed.
- Direct the design and installation of fresh floral arrangements for special occasions, guest requests, and events, ensuring proper setup and removal.
- Ensure all plants in hallways, guestrooms, and public spaces are checked for trash and broken floral pieces regularly.
- Condition fresh flowers and oversee the care of live plants according to schedule.
- Plan, refresh, and decorate all locations for major holidays, including Christmas, Easter, and New Year’s.
- Ensure the floral storage area (floral cage) is kept organized, clean, and fully stocked.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of floral care, greenery, and plant maintenance to ensure high-quality service and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee the watering and general care of live plants in all areas, including guest rooms and public spaces.
- Supervise the ordering, planning, and delivery of flowers, plants, and related supplies.
- Maintain and organize display windows and seasonal decorations in alignment with hotel standards.
- Monitor inventory of floral supplies and ensure timely ordering and restocking.
- Supervise and train floral team members, delegating tasks, and providing ongoing support and guidance.
- Assist with additional housekeeping duties and other tasks as directed by management.
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Previous floral experience preferred
- Previous housekeeping experience preferred
- Previous experience in housekeeping or hospitality is beneficial.
Special Skills/Equipment
- In-depth knowledge of fresh flowers, greenery, and plant care.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively.
- Positive attitude and excellent work ethic
- Great attention to detail
Essential Physical Requirements
This role involves demanding physical abilities including but not limited to:
- Ability to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum weight of approximately 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to kneel, bend, crawl
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals
- Working indoors and outdoors as working conditions permit
