Wage: $19.50 - $22.50/hour
Typical Schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Primary Purpose of Position
To oversee the Laundry and Uniform operation, ensure an organized and efficient operation while minimizing loss. Supervise and train the laundry staff. Responsible for the upkeep of all uniforms, inventory and purchasing of property-wide uniforms and linens.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Oversee the day to day operations of the laundry employees and department.
· Conduct regular uniform and linen inventory and maintain sufficient par of new uniforms
· Monitor quality of returned items in order to minimize loss and discard as they become substandard.
· Liaise with uniform dry cleaning company to keep costs down and minimize complaints.
· Receive and sort laundry, operate washers and dryers, treat stains and select all cleaners.
· Repair, mend, press and fold linens.
· Maintain the laundry area by repairing machines and keeping the area clean and organized.
· Write loss reports and orders supplies.
· Ensure effective management of uniform paperwork and communicate with Human Resources in regard to payroll deductions and reimbursements.
· Ensure proper uniform fits and request alterations as needed.
· Interview, hire, train and coach uniform and laundry staff.
· Monitory and evaluate performance of staff.
· Assist in chemical and MSDS training for the staff.
· Evaluate the laundry chemical usage and notifies the Executive Housekeeper of discrepancies.
· Supervise all inputs and outputs of linen.
· Schedule preventative maintenance of laundry equipment.
· Check equipment daily and report any problems or malfunctions to the Executive Housekeeper.
· Ensure all restaurant linen is delivered before restaurants are open.
· Perform linen and uniform inventory on a regular basis.
· Inform Executive Housekeeper of any uniform or laundry issues.
· Ensure all uniform and laundry employees are properly trained and are proficient in their work.
· Create the weekly schedule and recheck the occupancy throughout the week to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
· Ensure safety of all staff members through proper training and effective management
· Perform other job related work duties as assigned by management.
Education/Experience
· High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
· College Degree preferred
· Supervisory experience required
- Previous laundry experience in an upscale, high occupancy resort highly preferred
Special Skills/Equipment
- English and Spanish oral proficiency
- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, supervise, inspect and evaluate employee work
Essential Physical Requirements
- Work primarily performed indoors and can be warm at times.
- Must be able to stand and walk for duration of shift.
- Must be able to bend, squat, stretch for 2-3 hours at a time
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull laundry carts weighing up to 140 lbs
- Heavy machinery must be used with caution.
- Variable schedule at times, but usually requires five days per week, 8-4:30pm
