Job Title: Medical Lab Technician or Medical Lab Scientist
Job Summary: We are seeking a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) to join our team at Banner North Colorado Medical Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of laboratory science and technology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Perform waived and non-waived tests as defined by CLIA '88 in an accurate and timely manner with supervision. Assist with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements. May be responsible for the collection, receipt, and processing of biological specimens into the laboratory.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
1. Testing: Perform testing in an accurate and timely manner according to established policies and performance standards. Responsible for startup, calibration, and accuracy of procedures and instrumentation.
2. Quality Control: Recognize and ensure validity of abnormal patient and/or QC results for testing. Ensure accuracy of test results. Participate in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures.
3. Inventory Management: Ensure the appropriate use of supplies and materials and assist with inventory management. Ensure efficient utilization of reagents and supplies.
4. Training and Development: Self-directed and motivated to contribute to projects identified by the supervisor. Seek out opportunities to identify projects relating to department needs. Active in training of laboratory personnel.
5. Communication: Communicate courteously, professionally, effectively, and accurately with internal and external customers. Participate in the resolution of communication issues.
6. Specimen Processing: May process and prepare patient samples as required which can include specimen collection, general laboratory specimen processing, and referral laboratory processing. Ensure correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Meet one of the following criteria: Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, or equivalent laboratory training and experience, or other criteria defined in 42CFR493.
- Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation for review to determine eligibility.
- Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy in departments where applicable.
- MLT certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB).
- Basic knowledge of specimen requirements and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Previous experience with phlebotomy and processing.
