Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Laboratory Technician to perform waived and non-waived tests in an accurate and timely manner. The successful candidate will ensure department compliance with laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Performs testing accurately and efficiently, utilizing knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures. Exercises independent judgment to identify resources for assigned duties. Demonstrates comprehension of testing theory and clinical relevance.
2. Ensures test result validity and accuracy, promoting high-quality results. Participates in detecting and documenting deviations from established procedures. Resolves problems and follows through on identified issues during testing.
3. Effectively manages supplies and materials, minimizing waste and optimizing productivity. Identifies opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement. Recognizes areas for financial enhancements and contributes to project initiatives.
4. Provides self-directed motivation, contributing to projects that meet department needs. Seeks out training opportunities for laboratory personnel. Assists with pre-analytical, waived, and non-waived testing procedures in the supervisor's absence. Completes required training modules.
5. Communicates effectively and professionally with internal and external customers, addressing communication issues and promoting positive teamwork. Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills. Attends staff meetings and participates in discussions.
6. Processes patient samples according to protocols, ensuring correct identification and specimen integrity. May include specimen collection, general laboratory processing, and referral laboratory processing.

Requirements:
- Must meet one of the following criteria: Associate degree in laboratory science or equivalent experience meeting CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489.
- Foreign educated candidates must provide detailed credential evaluation from a nationally recognized agency.
- Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy may be required in some departments.
- MLT certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB).
- Basic knowledge of specimen requirements and medical terminology.
- Previous experience with phlebotomy and sample processing.
