We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at Sonora Quest Laboratories.
About the Role:
This position is responsible for the collection and receipt of biological specimens into the laboratory, their proper entry into our computer system, and the preparation of samples for analytical testing. You will also perform specified analytical testing as assigned. Follows established guidelines and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient specimen processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and process biological specimens from patients in various settings, including hospitals, patient service centers, and mobile locations.
- Enter and verify patient demographics, test requests, and other relevant data into our computer system.
- Prepare and deliver specimens to the technical area for analysis.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, and follow up on any issues or concerns related to specimen processing.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and timely delivery of results.
- Stay up-to-date with changing regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts to enhance processes and services.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; completion of a phlebotomy program or experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and colleagues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
