Core Functions
- Become a subject matter expert on Xifin billing system, and on standard billing and compliance protocols, to support independent projects and initiatives on an as needed basis.
- Research, prepare, and present policy coverage analyses to support the assessment of test profitability and business growth decisions.
- Upon request, review billing data points to perform root cause analysis and ensure effectiveness of quality control measures.
- Aid in the research and resolution of Quality, Risk, Compliance, etc. related findings to support the facilitation of corrective measures and the completion of all required actions to close out any open action items within an appropriate time frame as necessitated by operational or regulatory guidelines.
- Perform ad hoc administrative, operational, or project related support as needed to help meet department's strategic or operational objectives.
- Ability to think analytically and conceptually.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate complex issues using strong verbal and written aptitude clearly and efficiently.
- Knowledge of laboratory operations, computer systems, analytical software, and medical billing processes.
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
- A high degree of technical and decision-making skills.
- Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Five (5) years' of related experience in the laboratory industry with medical terminology or third party receivables.
- Significant understanding and knowledge of HIPAA privacy laws, compliance policies, laboratory regulatory requirements, general billing practices and procedures and state laws and regulations as they relate to laboratory operations.
- Significant understanding of financial management and/or data analysis
- Extensive knowledge of clinical laboratory operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, HCPCS coding, modifiers, and government and commercial payer guidelines.
- Advanced working knowledge of Xifin, Microsoft Excel and Access.
- Significant understanding and knowledge of pathology and genetic billing protocols.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma and project management concepts and other analytical tools.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
