THIS IS AN ONSITE POSITION - LOCATED IN TEMPE, AZ

Summary :

Junior / mid-level position to assist in support and maintenance efforts relating to server management, performance and availability monitoring, security benchmarks monitoring, workstation management, and cloud technologies support for Sonoran University. Assist with management, service delivery, and patching, and maintenance of all on premise data center and server closet equipment. Assist with other network management processes including endpoint protection, server backup / restore operations, and business continuity testing. Administer Microsoft 365 tenant and cloud applications. Manage vendor relationships with updates, migrations, new installations, etc., and coordinate planning with IT Department leadership. Additionally, assist with project management / department flow operations in concert with department staff.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform maintenance, updates, performance monitoring for virtual servers and infrastructure requirements to support those systems.
  • Assists with documentation of policies, procedures and standards related to the monitoring and maintenance of systems, including security for server protection.
  • Prepare regular status reports for department leadership.
  • Coordinates changes to server applications, including upgrades, patches and fixes with vendors liaising with Infrastructure and Analytics Manager / department leadership.
  • Installs, maintains and configures workstations, peripherals (e.g. printers, scanners, or related equipment).
  • Ensures network services and infrastructure are monitored for activity / performance to ensure high levels of availability.
  • Troubleshoots hardware, software and network connectivity problems.
  • Assist with virus protection, malware prevention, and other potential risk mitigation.
  • Monitors and responds to system event and other logs on a scheduled basis.
  • Monitors volume and backup space allocations on a scheduled basis.
  • Reviews system backups and performs regular test restores to ensure systems are functioning properly.
  • Interacts with the department leadership and other department staff to ensure deployments of applications are properly licensed, documented, and compliant.
  • Assist with project management, operations flows, department process implementation
  • Assist with basic deployment and troubleshooting of University VOIP phone system.
  • Assistance with helpdesk support and escalation calls when needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience :

  • A degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical training, basic computing certifications (A , Network , ITF , etc.).
  • Other combination of education, training, relevant industry certifications and experience that provides the required qualifications for the position will be considered.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with basic Windows / Mac client skills, Windows Active Technology skills through a junior level role in IT support or systems administration is desired.
  • Project Management experience is desired.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Help end-users resolve issues consistently and efficiently (when needed).
  • Handle support requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Experience with wired / wireless systems and basic troubleshooting.
  • Physical, data, and network security industry best practices.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Active Directory networks.
  • Experience in Office 365 administration.
  • Experience with Office 365 application suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience with advanced concepts such NPS, RADIUS, DNS, IP address schemes, etc.
  • Visio drawing and process documentation.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communications skills.
  • Work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Interface with a diverse population of staff, faculty, and students customers.
  • Research and evaluate solutions to technical problems.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of systems configurations and processes.
  • Working Environment :

  • Occasional night / weekend work.
  • Carry up to 50 lbs. and be able to move and install network equipment.
  • On-ground position – must reside in the Greater Phoenix area.
