What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor position at SonRidge Farm?
Do you like the idea of spending your summer outdoors, on a farm, leading exciting activities... are you passionate about working with children and animals?
We offer summer farm camps June-August, and are looking to bring in a few more qualified camp counselors!
We are looking for day Camp Counselors to supervise young campers and make sure they learn and have fun!
What do Camp Counselors do? The most important part of all Camp Counselor duties is to ensure campers stay safe at all times. You’ll be responsible for overseeing their activities and ensuring they don’t get hurt while having fun! Being reliable and able to build good relationships with children are two essential traits of a Camp Counselor.
Qualifications
Seeking enthusiastic college students or older to assist in our Summer Day Camp Program (non residential). Volunteer positions available for high school students, or for those who can't commit all summer)
Ideal candidates will have animal experience, be comfortable around dairy goats and other large animals, and work well with children. Horse &/or farm experience is preferred but NOT required.
Responsibilities
- Escort and oversee campers
- Educate campers through games and activities
- Resolve occasional problems between campers and address behavioral issues
- Make sure all safety rules are followed
- Assist campers with horse and goat care (goat milking anyone?!?)
- Ensure that campers are practicing safety and respect toward the animals and provide direction and assistance if needed
- Help campers with basic farm chores
