Metrology Technician
Sons Tool is looking for a Metrology Technician to join our Quality team. If you’re an experienced Metrologist that readily understands all this gibberish, please apply. If you’re highly skilled in a few aspects of the depicted role, you should apply too. Either will have a significant and lasting effect on our ability to make metal parts. Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist design with part development and layout verification
- Guide new / change part qualification (PPAP / SPAP / FAIR / Samplings etc.)
- Program, set-up and operate a wide variety of inspection and test equipment including CMM with PC-DMIS software, optical comparator and computer assisted precision measurement instruments
- Guide / Train personnel (GD&T / Gage R&R / PFMEA…and other crazy acronyms..)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and resolve quality issues throughout the product lifecycle
- Maintain accurate records and report results, including nonconformances, per procedures
- Utilize quality management tools and techniques to monitor and evaluate product performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in quality engineering
- Provide technical assistance in area of expertise to other inspectors and coworkers in other departments
Education/Experience
- Previous experience as a Metrology Technician/Metrologist required
- Advanced knowledge in measuring capabilities and calibrating metrology instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards
- Proven experience in quality engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment, required
- Experience programming and operating CMM required
- Strong knowledge of QA/QC principles, quality control methods, and quality systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
- Experience with fabricating, testing, and inspecting products for compliance with specifications
- Familiarity with ISO standards preferred
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
