What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Pullet Manager position at Sonstegard Foods Company?
Sunrise Farms located in Harris, Iowa
This position is essential in the operations of our 6 pullet sites. Reporting to the Pullet Manager and working closely with the General Manager, Layer Barn Manager, Layer Barn Assistant Manager, Safety Manager, and Office Manager will oversee hourly associates in the pullet barns.
Essential Job Duties:
- Be a great communicator.
- Maintain accurate records with regards to vaccination schedules, blood testing, and production.
- Work with Pullet Manager to ensure barns are clean and the timely delivery of chicks.
- Coordinate with Layer Barn Manager on the delivery of pullets to the layer barns.
- Monitor barn data to ensure water, air, feed, manure is per schedule.
- Scheduling of employees.
- Be available to be on call certain days of the week to respond to any alarms.
- Collect environmental swabs samples as needed.
- Monitor employees to ensure animal welfare practices are being followed.
- Lead by example and hold employees accountable to follow strict bio-security guidelines.
Qualifications:
2-5 years of experience in animal production or Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Business, or Agriculture Management desired. Bi-lingual in English and Spanish -preferred. Knowledge of basic computer skills with Microsoft products.
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Climbing, Sitting. Walking on an ongoing basis everyday
