About the Role:
We are seeking qualified Medical Assistants to provide healthcare services in a California Prison Facility setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a unique environment where your clinical skills directly contribute to the well-being and care of underserved populations.
Qualifications Required:
- Experience:
Minimum 12 continuous months (within the last 3 years) performing Medical Assistant duties in a public or private institution (internships not counted).
- Certification:
Must hold a valid Medical Assistant Certificate issued by an agency approved by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Medical Board of California.
- CPR Certification:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross (including AED).
- Competency Validation:
Must have completed a competency validation process per Title 22, Section 70016.
- Language Proficiency:
Must be fluent in English – both verbal and written communication are required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians and nursing staff with patient care and procedures
- Administer injections, medications, eye/ear washes, and breathing treatments
- Collect specimens, draw blood, and perform waived lab testing
- Record vital signs, prepare patients for examinations, and assist during medical exams
- Provide basic emergency care and administer BLS if needed
- Ensure infection control standards and maintain patient confidentiality
- Escort and attend to the physical needs of patients/youth
- Support clinic operations including scheduling, inventory, and supply handling
- Identify and respond to potential safety and security risks
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
