Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws and other specimen collections from patients, ensuring minimal discomfort and maximum safety.
- Process specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, including vital signs and collection details.
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology to ensure proper techniques during blood sampling.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen collection.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide excellent patient service within a hospital or clinical setting.
- Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and cleanliness in accordance with health regulations.
- Educate patients on the procedures involved in blood sampling and address any concerns they may have.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Phlebotomist or in a similar role within a healthcare or laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures related to specimen collection.
- Proficiency in performing vital sign assessments and understanding their significance in patient care.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and safety protocols in a clinical environment.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Certification as a Phlebotomist is preferred but not mandatory; relevant training will be provided.
