Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing venipunctures and collecting blood samples from patients while ensuring their comfort and safety. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as excellent patient care skills. The Phlebotomist will work closely with clinical laboratory staff to ensure accurate specimen collection and processing.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary collection techniques to obtain blood samples from patients.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during the specimen collection process.
- Accurately label and process specimens according to laboratory protocols.
- Maintain knowledge of medical terminology related to phlebotomy and laboratory procedures.
- Collaborate with clinical laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of specimens.
- Monitor and record vital signs as necessary before, during, and after the procedure.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
- Educate patients about the blood draw process and answer any questions they may have.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in patient care, preferably in a clinical or healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques and specimen collection processing.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and clinical laboratory operations is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential for maintaining accurate records.
