Position: Residential Advisor(Part Time) - Sooner Job Challenge, OKC, OK

Number of Vacancies: 2 -- shifts will vary and may include shift differential pay for nights and/or weekends.

Salary: $19.23 per hour up to 39 hours per week (monthly pay schedule)

The Sooner Job ChalleNGe Program is a highly complex operation, which has the responsibility of recruiting, housing, training, mentoring, and providing for the safety, security, and medical well-being of up to 75 sixteen- to twenty-one-year-old “At-Risk” youth. The Program combines classroom work, technical school training, community service, physical training, and team-building activities to enhance the life-skills and employability potential of these youth. Additional major elements of the program are: career skills, healthy living, drug abuse awareness, leadership/followership, discipline, physical fitness, practical job skills training and character development. This program is a 24-hour per day, 7-day per week operation.

Residential Advisors (RA) supervise the daily activities of the associates (students) to include eating, instructional/recreational activities and work details. RA's also train associates in group living, life skills, physical fitness, leadership/followership, and community service.

RA's utilize leadership skills, understanding & integrity to create a safe, disciplined environment for the associates. RA's work in direct supervision of teens so a command presence and the ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations is a must.

Basic Purpose: Monitor, supervise and train 35 to 45 at risk youth (ages 17 - 21) in the Oklahoma Youth Challenge Program (Sooner Job Challenge). Shift work is required and shifts could vary depending on program needs.

Essential Functions:

• Under administrative supervision monitors and supervises 35 to 45 youth (ages 17 - 21) in the Oklahoma Job ChalleNGe Program (Sooner Job Challenge Program)
• Maintains accountability of assigned platoon at all times
• Maintains discipline, security, and safety within a quasi-military atmosphere
• Develops a team-oriented attitude within the Associates
• Mentor/role model for those assigned cadets during the residential phase of the program
• Conducts first line counseling and problem solving for those assigned Associates and is the primary instructor in Drill and Ceremony and group living skills
• Directs and participates in physical training
• Provides transportation and supervision for Associates attending vocational training
• Maintains supporting documentation and evaluations for those assigned Associates

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Military background preferred, but not necessary. Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL).

Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED - Degree not required. Please list experience working or volunteering with adolescents on your resume.

Licenses/Certificates required: Valid Drivers License.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires long periods of standing and walking indoors and outdoors throughout the day
• Working in conditions of both high and low temperatures
• Ability to climb stairs
• Ability to run a mile and walk extended distances
• Ability to do pushups, side straddle hops, sit ups and other physical training and fitness activities
• Ability to teach and perform physical training to cadets as outlined by the Youth Challenge Physical Fitness program.
• Ability to drive or ride in a vehicle for extended distances

Conditions of Employment:

• Serves a 12 month trial period
• Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check
