Industrial maintenance technicians are skilled mechanics who install, repair, and maintain industrial machinery. They oversee equipment installation and maintenance, which includes setting up new machinery, conducting regular services, and troubleshooting equipment failures. Their responsibilities ensure the smooth operation of machinery and mechanical systems.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures machinery and mechanical equipment operation by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques and monitoring
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and
- Maintains equipment parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine the inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; and verifying
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Background in both industrial maintenance and automotive mechanics applies to this Previous work experience as an industrial maintenance and/or automotive mechanic
- Thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance.
- Basic computer and report writing skills
- Good communication and time management skills
- Knowledge of parametric and industrial control systems
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, and use hands to hold or operate objects, tools, or controls.
- Capable of reaching with hands and arms, kneeling, bending, crouching, climbing ladders or stairs, and twisting the body as necessary.
