Summary
Responsible for installing, repairing, assembling, evaluating, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring of equipment and lighting systems.
Responsibilities
- Inspects and evaluates repairs to property or equipment to determine the type of work required.
- Identifies and communicates with management or consultants the need for repairs.
- Responsible for assembling, evaluating, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Install, maintain and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems
- Inspect transformers and circuit breakers and other electrical components
- Able to read and interpret electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
- Perform general electrical maintenance
- Able to follow National, State and Local building codes and regulations.
- Knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems (Ability to check power and controls systems for HAVC equipment)
- Knowledge of various test equipment
- Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment and controls.
- Constructing and Fabricating parts, using hand tools and specifications.
- Ordering of electrical/ mechanical supplies and equipment.
- Requisitions supplies and equipment for repairs, replacement, cleaning and maintenance duties.
Knowledge and Abilities
Interprets instructions both written and oral. Works in a team with co-workers to resolve work issues. Knowledge of basic shop math. Able to communicate effectively in English.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Minimum 6 years work experience as an electrician in a manufacturing or facilities setting is preferred. Must hold a valid California General Electrician card from the Department of Industrial Relations.
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to access and navigate each department of the facility, occasionally exert push force up to 50 pounds, must have good eye sight and hand dexterity, and able to identify and distinguish colors.
Work Environment
Within safety guidelines, there will be exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.
