Machine Maintenance: Chemical Processing

Summary            

The tasks involve observing the operating conditions, monitoring meters and gauges. It also includes purifying water and eliminating heavy metals from waste water.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of production equipment. Understands and performs machine maintenance procedures.
• Maintains equipment, inspects filters and pumps, and ensures machines are operating optimally.
• Able to read, interpret drawings and machine maintenance instructions.
• Records production repairs and machine maintenance information. Follows instructions on Maintenance work orders.
• Understands and performs end of shift duties, oil recycling, material separation and housekeeping procedures.
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Abilities

Interprets instructions both written and oral. Works in a team environment to resolve work issues—knowledge of basic shop math. Forklift certification preferred but not required. Communicates effectively in English.

Education and Experience

Minimum High School Diploma or GED preferred. Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment or wastewater treatment setting is preferred but not necessary.

Physical Demands

Must be able to occasionally exert push force up to 50 pounds, must have good eye sight and hand dexterity, and able to identify and distinguish colors. Must be able to periodically walk to other areas of the facility and ability to work in confined spaces and on roofs (and within safety guidelines).

Work Environment

Within safety guidelines, there will be exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.
