Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical individual to join our Event-Driven Equities team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with an experienced Portfolio Manager on innovative trading strategies that utilize a data-driven, systematic approach to capitalize on corporate events such as Mergers & Acquisitions, Spin-offs, and Tender Offers. As an Event-Driven Analyst, you will play a critical role in identifying and analyzing investment opportunities, performing in-depth evaluations of future events, and delivering real-time insights on breaking news. Your contributions will directly influence trading decisions and drive performance within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Work with portfolio manager on all corporate events including mergers, spinoffs, exchange offers and tender offers
- Identify and analyze future events using FactSet, Bloomberg, ArbJournal, and proprietary tools to uncover actionable insights.
- Proactively monitor existing positions and provide timely updates on deal-specific developments, including earnings, regulatory updates, and filings.
- Develop a strong understanding of the systematic models and evaluate how new and existing deals fit into these frameworks
- Maintain database of historic and current M&A transactions through independent research and working with third party data providers
- Perform fundamental valuation work on merger targets throughout the life of the deal to quantify risk / reward
- Work with quantitative strategists on enhancements to the systematic models and back testing trading strategies
- Work with Risk Management team to understand deal specific and portfolio risk considerations
- Effectively communicate with PM regarding analysis and findings
- Maintain relationships with sell side brokers
