Requirements

Summary of Position Responsibilities:

Sorrell Land Surveying is seeking a Survey Technician I. The Survey Technician I is responsible for performing entry level survey work as part of a survey crew. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Cleans survey truck, equipment, and tools.
  • Keeps survey truck stocked with necessary supplies and tools.
  • Loads and unloads equipment and supplies used by the survey crew.
  • Set-up and operate survey equipment.
  • Communicate with crew members and office staff to maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance daily.
  • Review or check the work product of others.
  • Understand and comply with written/oral instructions in the English language.
  • Report information in a standard format.
  • Ability to pass a background test.
  • Ability to travel is a plus.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces at construction sites.
  • Move objects between 20-50 pounds long distances (20 feet or more).
  • Use a 16-pound sledgehammer.
  • Walk distances up to a ½ mile at a time, up to five miles per day.
  • Bend or stoop repeatedly.
  • Remain in a standing position for extended periods.
  • Make continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements.
  • Work outside in all seasons/weather conditions.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic knowledge of construction, boundary, and topographic surveys.
  • College or technical courses in mathematics or surveying are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required and must be maintained

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
