The Role: Director of Programs & Services
This position oversees the day-to-day operations of Village programs and services, directly supervising Professional Foster Parents, case management staff, and the Village Program Assistant.
Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts to meet or exceed Village census goals, maintain a strong community atmosphere, and uphold high standards of client care.
- Provide oversight of Village programs, ensuring effectiveness and tracking performance metrics.
- Develop and improve program deliverables while communicating quality standards to the team.
- Maintain required records and documentation per agency and state regulations.
- Lead program intake and admission processes, ensuring compliance with DCFS guidelines and completing associated paperwork.
- Select and manage Professional Foster Parents, ensuring appropriate staffing and support.
- Design and evaluate programs to meet youth and family needs, enhancing quality of life.
- Identify and engage community partners to support Village goals.
- Provide direct supervision and leadership to program staff and foster a cohesive work environment.
- Develop processes for staff decision-making and performance targets, offering regular feedback and completing performance reviews.
- Collaborate on hiring and terminating program staff as needed.
- Ensure the clinical needs of children are met in collaboration with the Director of Behavioral Health Services.
- Act as liaison with DCFS, service providers, and community partners.
- Assist with fundraising and development efforts in collaboration with the Advancement team.
- Monitor and develop the operational budget alongside the CPO and Business Manager.
- Comply with agency policies and regulations and attend required meetings.
- Respond to Village emergencies on-call 24/7.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field meeting DCFS requirements
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in child welfare, preferably in program leadership
- LCSW or clinical experience preferred
- DCFS Child Welfare Employee Licensure required
- Team-building and behavior modification plan experience
- Familiarity with social service systems and DCFS requirements
- Ability to pass DCFS background checks and medical clearances
- Valid Illinois driver’s license with reliable transportation
- Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills
- Flexibility to work weekends and in a drug-, tobacco-, and firearm-free environment
Physical Demands:
- Vision abilities: close range, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception
- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and use hands
- Occasionally lift/move up to 20-25 pounds
- Ability to perform typical office activities including filing and lifting office supplies
- Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding)
- May require over 40 hours per week to meet job demands
Language Skills:
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Spanish language skills helpful
