Job SummarySOS Group is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for the Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) to perform repair and preventative maintenance duties for all aspects of Bucks IU buildings, equipment, and grounds. This position requires expertise in carpentry, HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of facilities. Employer paid clearances.
Essential FunctionsSchedule and complete routine maintenance tasks as requested.
Implement a preventative maintenance program for boilers, HVAC equipment, and related systems.
Assess maintenance needs and determine whether work can be performed in-house or should be contracted.
Manage inventory and procurement of maintenance supplies and equipment.
Assist in preparing bids for supplies and equipment.
Be available for emergency maintenance on weekends and holidays.
Repair and maintain heating systems, including boilers, burners, thermostats, and control devices.
Maintain and repair building structures, equipment, furniture, and grounds, including doors, windows, playground equipment, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Keep accurate records of maintenance and service activities.
Provide assistance and information to facility visitors as needed.
Set up rooms for client meetings.
Adhere to all safety norms and regulations.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the SOS Group Supervisor and/or Bucks IU Supervisor.
Qualifications/Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Physical stamina and ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
Flexibility to work occasional weekends or overtime hours as needed.
State and federal backgrounds.
Moderate noise levels in the work environment.
Exposure to physical hazards and varying atmospheric conditions.
Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
Ability to stand, crawl, crouch, and bend/twist for extended periods.
Ability to walk for long durations across school district facilities.
Ability to hear with a maximum 40-decibel loss and see with normal depth perception and color vision.
Ability to climb up to 25 feet on ladders, scaffolding, and catwalks.
Ability to push, pull, and lift objects up to 50 pounds; dollies available for heavier loads.
Occasional use of a 12-foot stepladder for repairs.
Use of both hands for machinery operation and repair tasks.
Fine motor skills required for precise maintenance and repairs.
Full-time, 260-day calendar position.
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Hours may vary based on district needs.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Travel to district sites may be required.
