Position Summary

The Manufacturing Estimator plays a critical role in supporting the financial health of our wire harness manufacturing operations by analyzing and setting competitive pricing strategies while we seek to increase our sales as a business. The Manufacturing Estimator collaborates with Sales, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure pricing is competitive, aligned with market expectations, and maximizes company revenue.

Requirements:

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

  • Pricing: Manages pricing efforts to ensure timely quote responses, meeting customer expectations and profitability requirements of the business.
    • Bill of materials (BOM) Creation and pricing verification.
    • Create a material sourcing plan.
    • Establish Labor plans for the process of assembly builds.
    • Recommend markup and pricing position based on market behavior.
  • Design for Manufacturability: Work collaboratively with customers on improvements related to design for manufacturability, with the goal of reducing lead time, material costs, or labor time.
  • Site visits: Support site visits with outside sales or purchasing to enhance relationships and address specific needs with our vendors and customers.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with various departments internally to ensure a smooth transition from quote to award. Support cross-functional teams with pricing insights and data to improve strategic decision-making.
  • Cost Analysis: Monitor product performance and profitability for existing orders, recommending pricing adjustments as necessary.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Economics or equivalent work experience.
  • Combined experience of 2-3 years in a manufacturing environment, or in a pricing or purchasing position is a requirement for this role.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL) and experience with ERP systems. "Currently using Microsoft Navision"
  • Proficiency in PDF viewer, and CAD viewer.
  • Effective oral and written communication and experience working within a team-based environment are essential.

Working Environment

Work requires dividing physical effort between standing, sitting, and walking with most effort at a desk. The position works indoors in a climate-controlled environment with time spent in both an office and warehouse environment. Travel of <10% can be expected to visit other build locations, along with occasional customer and supplier visits.
