We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Counselor to join our team to fulfil a government contract to work with students at Red Rock Day School in Red Valley, Arizona. This position plays a vital role in providing counseling services and support to students with special needs.
PLACE OF PERFORMANCE:
- Red Rock Day School, Red Valley, Arizona. PO Drawer 2007 Navajo Route 13 Red Valley, AZ 86544.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Ideal Candidate will:
- Provide counseling services. The selected candidate will provide direct student counseling services according to student's IEP which may range between 30 minutes to 60 minutes 1 time per week.
- Use the NASIS data base system to input student's IEP, upload service logs, write progress reports, and post other essential SPED documents.
- Have working knowledge of how to use the "Authenticator" app for access to NASIS.
- Provide documents required for student IEP including the following: Summary Report, parent letter, Team Meeting notes, Behavior Intervention Plan, Functional Behavior Assessment (and/or but not limited to).
- Meet the 90 days requirement for evaluation of student when provided with an "Assessment Plan;" also will provide finished evaluation report to the SPED Teacher/Coordinator two weeks prior to the scheduled IEP meeting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, School Psychology, Mental Health Counseling or a related field and from an accredited program.
- Valid certification or licensure as a counselor or special education professional in Arizona.
- Possess a valid unrestricted license/certification form a state or US territory that grants legal authority to provide psychological /counseling services as an independent practitioner in the fields of psychology, social work, counseling, marriage, family therapy of a similar counseling field.
- At least 5 years experience working with Native American Students.
- Must complete a background check.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and families.
