Employment Specialist - Workforce Development Trainer, P/T, Hourly, Non-Exempt

The organization serves consumers in Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet, Charleston, and surrounding areas.

Seeking a candidate who is able to work part time and up to 20 hours per week, as a caseload is built and established, additional hours may be added. Must have your own transportation and be able to travel throughout Horry and Georgetown Counties respectively. Must be able to pass all fingerprinting and background checks as well as additional documentation (CPR/First Aid/TB test/Physical Exam). Additional items may be required for credentialing through the state.
Overview of Responsibilities and Duties:
Employment Specialist
- Provide person-centered employment services to obtain competitive employment for job seekers.
- Provide pre-employment services such as resume writing, soft skill training, completing applications and job readiness training.
- Collaborate with local businesses to create partnerships that lead to employment opportunities for job seekers.
- Provide on-site job coaching to employees.
- Provide training and support to employers and community partners.
- Compliance with data collection and reporting in Therap to meet requirements and timelines as directed by the IPSE and the State of SC.
- Create and maintain professional relationships with learning coaches, teachers, case managers, program participants, staff, and community partners.
- Maintain regular communication with program participants, parents, learning coaches, and school.
- Attend employment training as needed and provide updates to the team.
Bean Dreaming Coffee Truck Responsibilities
· Upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance of the coffee truck.
· Quality assurance of food and beverages with focus on managing item cost control.
· Financial responsibility and tracking of sales receipts.
· Compliance with DHEC regulations and assistance with inspections as needed.
· Secure, straighten, clean up food truck daily and after each use.
· Provide training on all aspects of coffee business including set up, barista training, customer service training, POS training, inventory, etc.
· Provide continued motivation and real time coaching for coffee truck trainees, ensuring the daily activities run smoothly and efficiently.
· Maintain excellent customer service skills and instruct food truck staff on how to accomplish these daily interactions.
· Provide training on how to clean, straighten and maintain the appearance of the food truck.
· Flexible schedule requiring early mornings and some evening or weekend hours based on coffee truck opportunities.
· Must be comfortable driving a 32-foot truck
Vending Machine Business
· Responsible for training interns, transporting them to vending machine locations and running all aspects of vending machine business.
· Stocking: Loading, unloading and transporting products to vending machines, ensuring proper product placement and rotation to maintain freshness, refilling and merchandising snacks, beverages, and other products as needed.
· Machine Maintenance: Cleaning the interior and exterior of machines, performing minor equipment repairs and replacing defective parts and adjusting temperature gauges to maintain product freshness.
· Customer Service: Answering customer questions and addressing their needs and helping with machine operation.
· Inventory and Records: Keeping records of purchases for inventory purposes, collecting money from machines and refilling bill and coin changers, accounting for cash and products and ordering products as needed.
· Must have reliable transportation and the ability to transport trainees in personal vehicle.
SOS Expectations: · Obtain and maintain all annual training and compliance requirements for DDSN Employment Specialist credentialing.
· Attend barista training, obtain “Serve Safe Manager” certification and attend driving classes at Safe Driving School to support Bean Dreaming Coffee Truck.
· Must have a clean driving record
· Follow all policies and procedures as presented in the SOS Care Policy Manual and Handbook.
· Ability to lift heavy boxes and supplies and stand for long periods of time.
· Able to work in varied weather conditions including the heat and humidity of summer and the colder winter months.
- Demonstrate all SOS Core values.
- Attend all EOS meetings as required.
- Maintain open communication with Program Manager(s) on a regular basis.
- Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive situations and documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: The Employment Specialist will have a University Degree in a related field, experience in working with people who have disabilities or equivalent experience. Must have experience in non-profit management and working knowledge of inter-agency practices. ACRE Certification or CESP Credential preferred but not required.
A strong background in both written and oral communication is necessary as well as proficiency in word processing. Must possess the ability to work independently and to take the lead in difficult situations. A general understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is important to the understanding of the mission of the organization. Must possess the ability to “sell” our program and our employees to prospective employers and have excellent business connections with a sound reputation within the community.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
