Responsible for ensuring the connection and smooth data flow between different technology platforms within a healthcare organization.
- Works with various integration technologies, including interface engines (such as Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, and Ensemble), electronic health record systems (like MEDITECH EHR), and data exchange standards (such as HL7, FHIR, and CDA).
- Utilizes database knowledge (like SQL), web service technologies (RESTful APIs, SOAP), and middleware platforms to facilitate data sharing.
- Collaborates closely with project managers, technical teams, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and efficient project completion.
- Takes full responsibility and accountability for assigned areas of system integration.
- Designs, develops, tests, and implements interfaces to connect different healthcare systems using integration engines and middleware.
- Implements and troubleshoots HL7 messages, including those related to patient admissions, orders, and results.
- Utilizes interoperability frameworks like FHIR and IHE profiles to ensure seamless data exchange between various systems, including EHRs, laboratory systems, and imaging systems.
- Monitors integration environments, resolves issues, and ensures the accuracy and reliability of data across all connected systems.
- Customizes and enhances integration solutions to meet the specific needs of healthcare providers and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Works closely with clinical and technical teams, including IT staff, clinicians, and external vendors, to gather requirements, implement solutions, and address technical challenges.
- Maintains the security and integrity of data exchanged between systems in compliance with healthcare regulations like HIPAA.
- Creates and maintains detailed technical documentation, including interface specifications, system workflows, and user guides.
- Provides training and support to end-users and IT staff on the effective use of integrated systems.
- Participates in or leads projects related to healthcare system integration and data exchange initiatives.
- Monitors project progress and reports any deviations from the plan to the appropriate IT leadership.
- Possesses the ability to develop creative solutions when standard approaches are not applicable.
- Performs other related duties as needed.
Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, healthcare informatics, or a related field (equivalent experience and/or certifications may be considered).
Requires 3 to less than 5 years of relevant work experience.
Requires obtaining at least one of the following certifications within the first year of employment: Health Level Seven International (HL7) [Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) or Clinical Document Architecture (CDA)].
Salary : $72,000 - $86,400
