Job Description: Chief Investment Officer Outstanding opportunity to lead the investment department of Fidelity’s reinsurance business, Soteria Reinsurance, as we expand our presence. Our vision is to develop a trusted, long-term partner to both retail customers and ceding companies by utilizing creative products, robust investment capabilities, and a strong capital base. The Team The Chief Investment Officer for Soteria Reinsurance is a key member of Fidelity’s leadership team. The investment team designs and executes liability-driven investment strategies, portfolio construction, and repositioning to support the acquisition of new (re-)insurance liabilities. These strategies and associated portfolios must meet business needs (sufficient return on capital, regular investment income), while taking into consideration asset-liability matching, execution risk, and Soteria’s overall appetite for investment risk. The Expertise You Have Experienced leader with 15 years of experience in the (re-)insurance space overseeing management of asset portfolios MBA / Master’s degree in relevant field Multi-asset portfolio management and investment strategy structuring experience within an insurance / reinsurance environment Strong understanding of statutory capital models including Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement and US Risk-Based Capital Experience managing fixed income portfolios in life insurance industry, including asset-liability management Demonstrable track record of successfully implementing investment strategies, especially in an insurance context Leadership and managerial competencies, with an ability to build relationships and exert influence in all directions Expert ability to work collaboratively with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines The Value You Deliver Lead the investment management team, direct the companies’ investment processes, and manage the global asset portfolios Develop and articulate comprehensive investment strategies aligned with the firms' risk tolerances, return objectives, and market dynamics Lead the Asset-Liability Management (“ALM”) function Lead the development of transaction-specific asset and hedging strategies that optimize yield versus capital within regulatory, accounting, and risk management constraints Set the direction, management and oversight of in-force portfolios, internal managers, external managers, and legal entities Assess the performance of investment mandates and contribute to the assessment of portfolio management Work with asset managers to determine the best path to execution, including analysis of existing portfolios and the creation of target portfolios Represent FIG’s investment team – serve as key point of contact and partner closely with internal and external stakeholders including Fidelity senior leadership, Boards of Directors, regulators, rating agencies, ceding companies, etc. Negotiate investment guidelines and treaty terms with ceding companies to deliver the flexibility necessary to manage asset risk and generate target returns Contribute investment expertise to support new product development Mentor and develop staff, ensuring professional growth and knowledge enhancement Company Overview At Fidelity, we are passionate about making our financial expertise broadly accessible and effective in helping people live the lives they want!
