Job Summary:
We are seeking an innovative, rapid learner, motivated, Mechanical Robotics Engineer with expertise in pneumatics, soft robotics, plastic design, and manufacturing to join our dynamic team. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing robotic systems that integrate flexible materials, pneumatic actuation, and advanced manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, prototyping, and testing, with a focus on creating high-performance, cost-effective robotic solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Mechanical Design & Prototyping: Design and develop soft robotic and pneumatic systems, incorporating plastic components for manufacturability and durability.
· Pneumatic Systems Development: Develop and optimize pneumatic actuation systems for robotics applications, including modeling and control of air pressure dynamics.
· Soft Robotics Innovation: Work with flexible materials, elastomers, and compliant mechanisms to create novel robotic solutions.
· Plastic Design & Manufacturing: Design injection-molded, thermoformed, and 3D-printed plastic parts, ensuring they meet functional and cost constraints.
· System Integration: Collaborate with electronics, software, and AI engineers to integrate mechanical components with sensors, actuators, and control systems.
· Testing & Validation: Conduct experimental testing and validation of robotic designs, iterating based on performance data.
· Manufacturing & Scalability: Work with vendors and manufacturers to ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles are met.
· Technical Documentation: Create and maintain engineering documentation, CAD models, BOMs, and test reports.
Required Qualifications:
· Education: Enrolled in a master’s program in mechanical engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
· Experience: 3 years of experience in robotics, pneumatics, soft robotics, or plastic product design & manufacturing.
Technical Skills:
· Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor).
· Knowledge of pneumatic control systems, including valves, regulators, and actuators.
· Familiarity with plastic materials, molding techniques, and additive manufacturing.
· Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) for soft materials and pneumatics.
· Understanding of compliance mechanisms and deformable structures in robotics.
· Experience with embedded systems and sensor integration is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in medical devices, wearable robotics, or biomimetic systems.
· Background product engineering, manufacturing, robotics.
· Experience with soft, stretchable, expandable, and deformable materials, including elastomers, shape-memory polymers, and flexible composites. (Rubber & Foams)
