THE ROLE
Sotheby’s Wine has its main retail store in the lobby of Sotheby’s headquarters on York Avenue in New York. This role is responsible for selling in-store items, assisting with order fulfillments, stocking bottles, answering client inquiries via phone/email, and working in the team to provide excellent client service.
This role is temporary and is on a Monday – Friday or Tuesday – Saturday schedule. The store hours are Monday to Friday from 11am-7pm and Saturday from 10am-6pm. There may be need for flexible days and hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sell wine to high net worth clients in the store
- Open (when necessary) and close (when necessary) of the store
- Assist in maintaining the store appearance
- Pick and set aside bottles for online / direct orders
- Release pickups in the store for retail and auction orders
- Receive bottles from suppliers at the store
- Restock the shelves
- Assist with store merchandising as needed
- Respond to phone/email inquiries
- Create and apply barcode and price tags
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills
- Able to load and unload wine cases up to 40 pounds
- Enjoy selling wine and a desire to learn more about wine and spirits (plus)
- Ability to learn proprietary POS and website system
- Flexibility to work overtime
- Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends
- Previous sales experience
- Trustworthy, reliable, detail oriented, and discreet
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office suite
The expected hourly rate for this position ranges from $30/hour - $35/hour. Employees in this role may be expected to work overtime, and will receive additional pay at the applicable overtime rate. In addition to hourly wages and overtime, successful candidates will be eligible for benefits as required by law. Our offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
Salary : $30 - $35
