Wastewater Treatment Plant General Laborer

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Gallatin is recruiting for a General Laborer for the Town of Taos, New Mexico Wastewater Treatment Plant. We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform random drug screenings. Driving records are also monitored monthly.

This is a temporary position with the anticipated length of work being 3 weeks.

Under supervision the General Laborer will perform a variety of semi-skilled duties and labor in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant; perform adjustments and repairs to plant equipment; and perform a variety of related duties as assigned.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

• Operates, performs repairs on equipment and parts, and maintains the treatment plant facility.
• Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties.
• Operates valves, gates, pumps, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and processing of water, wastewater, sludge, and effluent.
• Maintains shift log and monitors and records meter and gauge readings as required.
• Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures.
• Follows written and oral instructions.
• Ability to carry and respond to pages as requested by management.
• Ability and willingness to work on-call shifts, as requested, must be willing to work off-hours, nights, weekend and holiday shifts. Must be willing to be on call, called back, held over or work assigned shifts as needed, including being fit and able to respond to call-ins in a timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Grade $15.00-$20.00 (Hourly)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma or GED
• Ability to lift a minimum or 40 pounds.
• Ability to pass a general physical exam.

Subject to adverse weather conditions, fumes, toxic agents and hazards associated in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants.
