Managing Director/ Jr. Partner Opportunity - Lower Middle Market Private Equity Firm (First Fund)
About the Firm
Our client, a successful Miami-based independent sponsor, is preparing to close its inaugural fund ($200M-$250M) in Q3 2024. The firm specializes in acquiring founder-owned businesses in fragmented industries, unlocking growth through strategic acquisitions and operational enhancements. Their collaborative investment approach ensures strong partnerships with management teams and stakeholders.
The firm focuses on Residential Services, Business Services, Value-Added Distribution, and Specialty Manufacturing, targeting lower middle-market companies with:
- EBITDA: $3M-$10M
- Revenue: $20M-$150M
With 25 majority investments across three platforms and two successful exits, they are now expanding their team and seeking to add a Deal Team Partner and a Business Development Director. The current team includes the Founding Partner, two Operating Partners, and two Vice Presidents.
Position: Deal Team Managing Director /Jr Partner
The MD/ Jr Partner will play a key role in scaling and managing the firm, with responsibilities including:
- Sourcing, executing, and managing investments
- Growing, leading, and mentoring the investment team
- Working closely with firm leadership and portfolio companies to drive growth, instill best practices, and create long-term value
Ideal Candidate Profile

- Extensive Lower Middle Market (preferred) or Middle Market private equity experience
- A proven track record in deal execution
- Strong industry relationships and sourcing capabilities

Responsibilities:
Investment Sourcing and Execution:
- Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective deals.
- Build and leverage a network of industry contacts, intermediaries, and advisors to source deals.
- Lead due diligence processes, including financial analysis, market research, and operational assessments.
- Develop investment theses and present recommendations to the investment committee.
- Negotiate deal terms, structure transactions, and oversee legal documentation.
Portfolio Management:
- Serve on the boards of portfolio companies and provide strategic guidance.
- Work with management teams to develop and implement value-creation plans.
- Engage in the early stages of building and growing firm investments, involving hands-on operational work.
- Monitor financial and operational performance, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
Firm Leadership and Development:
- Contribute to the strategic direction and growth of the firm.
- Train and mentor deal team members to help them develop and integrate into the firm's culture.
- Lead and manage teams, ensuring that junior staff members are adequately supported and guided.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, events, and in the media.

Qualifications:
- Experience: Significant experience in LMM (ideal) and/or MM private equity is required. Partner-level experience is necessary.
- Education: MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.

- Proven track record of successful deal sourcing, execution, and portfolio management.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience leading, mentoring, and growing a PE team.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with industry professionals, management teams, and limited partners.

Location:
The firm is based in Miami, and the Partner is expected to reside in Miami. This is not a hybrid position.
Compensation:
Competitive compensation package in-line with market standards for LMM-focused firms, including base salary, performance-based bonus, and attractive long-term equity participation.
