Employment Dates: June 1 – December 31, 2025 (renewable)
Classification: Exempt, Full-Time
Reports To: Co-Executive Director of Communications and Development
Location: Hybrid - Mostly remote role. Preference for someone within 45 min of the farm although not required. Some travel required.
Days and Hours: The position works 35-40 hours per week. Occasional weekends and evenings required.
Salary and Benefits: $62,400 annual salary paid biweekly (equivalent of $30/hr). Health Reimbursement Account of $529.16 (Individual) or $1,066.66 (with dependents)/month. IRA Retirement Account with 3% match. Additional benefits, subject to funding, include:

Overview: The Deputy Development Director is responsible for supporting the Co-Executive Director of Communications and Development in fundraising, donor relations, event coordination, and administrative tasks.
- Assist with introductory calls and check-ins with new funders.
- Co-facilitate funder information sessions and eventually lead them solo.
- Support coordination of and eventually manage coordination of the annual contributor appreciation gathering. Responsibilities include:
- Creating and sending invitations to donors/volunteers.
- Planning activities and/or presentations for the event.
- Booking performers and creating the event agenda.
- Facilitation of the event
- Thanking attendees and sharing follow-up materials (e.g., photo folders).
- Facilitate regrant payments to alumni, Braiding Seeds fellows/runner ups and other grantees, including entering payments into bill.com for processing and supporting coordination of obtaining required documentation from grantees to initiate payment.
- Track and acknowledge grant payments (via EFT, checks, etc.).
- Upload grant letters to Dext and appropriate organizational folders.
- Support grant research, tracking, reporting, writing, payment processing as needed and database profile updates, including Guidestar profile management.
- Support ED in submitting sponsorship applications and conducting business outreach for our annual SOULstice fundraiser
- Attend in-person events to represent the organization and engage with funders.
- Assist the Co-Executive Director (Co-ED) in hosting funders during on-site visits, ensuring a positive and informative experience.
- Develop and lead a sustainer campaign in collaboration with Co-ED and assist with the end of year annual mailing coordination.
- Support the development of a bequest policy/program in collaboration with Co-ED including the identification and stewardship of potential donors to participate in the program.
- Support ED in brainstorming new fundraising strategies trends and keeping informed on current fundraising trends. Brainstorm new strategies to enhance fundraising efforts.
- Attend in-person funder events and host funders on-site as needed.
- Annually update the FAQ document to include the latest strategic goals, financial summaries, and other relevant organizational information.
- Monitor funder logo updates and communicate any changes to the Operations Director for timely updates to the organization's website.
- Compile and create the organization's annual summary of work document, highlighting key achievements and impact.
- Oversee Bloomerang database management, including merging constituent records, ensuring data consistency, and managing household records.
- Respond to donor inquiries, including providing stock donation details and wire transfer confirmations.
- Participate in “all hands on deck” team responsibilities including meetings, strategic planning, SOULstice and community gatherings, and rotating miscellaneous tasks.
- Support other administrative and program tasks as capacity allows
- Experience in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit management.
- Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Bloomerang) and financial tools (e.g., Bill.com).
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, sustainability, and community engagement.
- Familiarity with Zoom, Google suite, Airtable, Zapier
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
