What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Specialist position at Soulberry Natural Market?
This position works primarily on the retail sales floor managing inventory, purchasing items according to company guidelines and recommending nutritional supplements, whole body care and other products according to customers according to their needs.
Wellness Responsibilities
· Ensure prompt, friendly, helpful customer service
· Assist customers following HIPAA guidelines
· Recommend appropriate supplements and vitamins according to customer needs
· Ensure the department is well merchandised and visually appealing to customers
· Assist in planning and creating promotional displays
· Monitor inventory and replenish products based on company buying guidelines
· Purchasing items in compliance with companies’ product standards
· Purchasing, receiving and stocking orders
· Ensure that products are stocked using FIFO guidelines
· Ensures proper signage and tags are displayed for products
· Monitor dates of products and properly track and control spoilage/shrink
· Establish pricing procedures, to meet margin goals
· Research and recommend purchases of equipment and other large capital expenditures for department.
· Maintain department equipment in working order. Troubleshoot problems and arrange for repairs.
· Develop and enforce daily tasks to be completed including, front facing, stocking and cleaning to maintain a clean and efficient work environment
· Completes expired, sampling and temperature worksheets as required
· Maintain a positive working relationship with vendors
· Oversee all customer special orders
· Works in compliance with, and ensures compliance of, established procedure including Weight and measures, the health department and safe work practices
Personnel Management
· Work with human resources to hire qualified applicants following established policy.
· Ensure on-the-job training according to company policies.
· Conduct probationary, semi-annual, and annual performance evaluations.
· Take disciplinary action as needed following established policies.
· Work with the store manager to develop departmental schedule.
· Organize meetings for staff as needed.
· Ensure department staff is informed of storewide meetings and policy changes.
· Ensure safe working for department staff.
Merchandising
· Research and stay up to date on trending products within the industry
· Set pricing guidelines to meet margin goals.
· Ensure items are properly merchandised with appropriate signage and/or pricing tags
· Set standards for displays and signage in Wellness Department by working with Marketing Manager.
· Visit other stores for price comparisons, ideas for displays and products.
· Ensure attractive, readable signs and promotional materials with accurate prices.
· Attend meetings as requested to plan promotions and merchandising.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
· Participate in setting sales, margin and labor goals for department. Review financial reports of departments’ performance and take corrective action as needed.
· Attend management team meetings and storewide meetings.
· Perform other tasks assigned by Store Manager.
· Perform Manager on Duty shifts as assigned.
· Assist customers in all departments, in prompt friendly courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary.
· Answer & route phone calls.
DIRECT SUPERVISION OF OTHERS
Primary responsibilities: training, performance evaluations and addressing disciplinary issues with Employees.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
· Understanding of Natural and Organic industry
· Understanding of holistic vitamins and supplements
· At least 2 years supervisory experience- hiring, evaluating and initiating/documenting disciplinary procedures with employees.
· 2 years experience working in herbal or holistic remedies
· Strong customer service background.
· Computer skills: spreadsheet, word processing and internet. Ability to use Chef-Tek , or other similar software. Ability to read department financial reports. Ability to operate professional kitchen equipment.
· Regular, predictable attendance
· Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job
· Well organized and pays attention to detail
· Easy to communicate with, leads by example and gives clear direction
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Physical
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds
· Standing / walking 6-8 hours a day
· Movement requirements may include: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
· Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays as needed
· Use of ladders
· Ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, juicer, blender and other heavy machinery
