What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Editor position at Sound Healthcare Communications?
- Edit print and digital materials for health care providers and patients for grammar, spelling, punctuation, language consistency, sense and flow, format, spacing/alignment, and clarity. Materials include but are not limited to: Sales aids, flash cards, speaker decks, websites, interactive visual aids, emails, banners, and convention materials
- Adhere to SOUND process and departmental procedures when reviewing materials at each stage of its development [e.g., mechanical, disk release, UAT]
- Maintain library of client/brand-specific style sheets to ensure consistency between editors
- Ensure jobs adhere to the AMA Manual of Style (11th edition) and the brand’s style requirements Ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects against a dynamic schedule
- Partner with copywriters to ensure copy is aligned with existing content and properly annotated and referenced
- Fact-check claims to ensure scientific accuracy, verify statistics and dates per primary reference source, and ensure citations are properly styled
- Check/review changes from clients and medical/legal teams to ensure they align with the job
- Proofread the final stage of materials
- Participate during hot sheet, status, and kickoff meetings to represent and negotiate timing and expectations on behalf of the editorial department
- Update the editorial department on new developments from meetings
- Collaborate with other departments when needed
- Consistently uphold the highest of quality standards for all materials leaving the agency
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements:
- Outstanding verbal and written communicating skills
- Expert research skills
- Possess a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to recognize errors in spelling and punctuation
- Deep knowledge and understating of AMA guidelines and FDA requirements governing pharmaceutical advertising
- Expert in managing time and completing allocated work within a given timeframe
- Ability to manage assigned tasks under pressure
- Ability to build and manage teams, assign responsibilities, set deadlines and manage complex projects
- BA/BS degree in English, Media/Journalism or comparable discipline
- Preferred 3-5 years of medical editing experience
Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
