POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Mechanical Production Technician functionally tests and troubleshoots to the component level, inspects, repairs, reworks, calibrates, and certifies a variety of electronic subassemblies, assemblies and completed instruments. In this position you will perform a wide variety of complex assembly and sub-assembly tasks that require strong attention to detail. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, proven fabrication skills, the ability to take specific directions and perform repetitive skills daily.

MUST REQUIREMENTS - HSD/GED, AA or AS preferred, with 5 years of current electrical and mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing production environment or equivalent industry.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to work with metal and chemical compounds on a daily basis.
  • Must perform surface mount component debugging and repair, using multiple methods of soldering.
  • Must have solid mechanical aptitude to assemble and modify sub-assemblies, final assemblies and systems per manufacturing drawings and instructions.
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Must have good hand dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work in noisy or quiet environments without inner ear devices.

SKILLS NEEDED

  • Requires extreme attention to detail and the ability to understand, speak to, and ask questions on supplied work instructions when additional information is needed.
  • Read and understand schematics, follow engineering assembly drawings, bill of materials, manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and other supporting documentation.
  • Apply electronics theory, principles of electronic circuitry, to diagnose and repair electronic products.
  • Perform soldering techniques to solder and de-solder micro-electronic devices (lead free through holes and surface mount).
  • Perform Surge, Burst, ESD and other EMC tests according to industry standards.
  • Operate oscilloscope, generator, meters, power supplies, service monitors and test fixtures, and understand their use and function.
  • Operate hand tools and small power tools and understand their use and function.
  • Create working prototypes – supplies feedback on design flaws and suggestions for avoiding additional risk with a design.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and precision in daily work.
  • Ability to multi-task, work with a sense of urgency, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate on instructional documentation, write reports and correspondence in a professional manner.
  • Strong ability to use both digital and manual scales in metric and imperial units. Add and subtract both fractional and decimal units.
  • Proven ability to use hand and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications.
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with engineering, quality, and management to resolve assembly problems.
  • Capacity to multi-task, work with a sense of urgency, meet tight deadlines, and work overtime if/when needed.
