Job Summary: Sound Prosthetics and Orthotics is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician to join our team. This position involves working closely with prosthetists and orthotists to fabricate and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent craftsmanship skills, and a passion for helping individuals regain mobility and independence. In addition to technical duties, the technician will be responsible for ensuring the fabrication shop is well-stocked and maintained to ensure smooth operations. Reports to the owners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and fabrication of prosthetic and orthotic devices under the guidance of a licensed prosthetist/orthotist.
- Modify and adjust devices to meet patient needs and specifications per prosthetist/orthotist instructions.
- Fabricate custom molds, sockets, and other components using various materials including plastics, metals, and composites.
- Ensure the devices meet quality standards and patient specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to existing devices.
- Maintain an organized inventory of fabrication supplies and materials, ensuring that the shop is stocked and ready for production.
- Order and restock supplies as needed, keeping track of inventory levels to prevent shortages.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and in good working condition.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in prosthetic and orthotic technology.
- Responsible for shipping, receiving and delivery if packages.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in prosthetics and orthotics technology is a plus.
- Previous experience in prosthetics/orthotics or a related field preferred.
- Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools, machinery, and equipment related to prosthetic/orthotic fabrication.
- Good understanding of materials used in the construction of prosthetic and orthotic devices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make adjustments as needed.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with patients and healthcare providers.
- Organizational skills to manage inventory and ensure adequate stock levels.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfort working with hands and precision tools.
- Ability to bend, twist, and use fine motor skills as required.

Position is full time, 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. This position routinely works during normal business hours with very few extended hours or days.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
