Shipfitter/Lead Worker

Position Overview

Join us in supporting PSNS Shop 11 with your shipyard experience and expertise! This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional to engage in ship structure tasks, ensuring excellence in every aspect of the job.

Contract Duration: March 3, 2025 – December 19, 2025

Compensation: $32 - $34 per hour with weekly pay and 7 days per diem.

Key Requirements:

• 
  Citizenship- U.S. Citizen with proof (original/certified birth certificate or U.S. passport). Must obtain a "DBIDS" badge.
• Certification-Maritime OSHA 10 certification.
• Experience-Previous shipyard experience required.
• Working Hours- 40 - 70 hours per week.

Scheduling:

• Diverse shifts including 8-hour, 10-hour, and 12-hour shifts.
• Monday through Friday with overtime, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities:

1. Structural Work:

• Perform removal, alteration, repair, and installation of ship structures.
• Manufacture templates and fabricate structures/fittings (e.g., bulkheads, foundations, ladders).
• Prepare surfaces for welding and perform post-weld clean-up.
• Manage tank access covers relevant to other work areas.

2. Lead Work:

• Medically cleared to handle raw lead, lifting weights up to 80 pounds.
• Lead worker duties require training in operating required respiratory PPE.
• Familiarity with safety protocols such as Lead Awareness, OSH Lockout/Tag-out, Hazardous Energy Control, Fall Protection, Hearing Conservation, and Eye Safety Awareness.
• Capability to work in confined and enclosed spaces.
